As you likely have noticed by now, I changed the design for the Web site Imar.Spaanjaars.Com. I got a bit bored with the black and white design, so I felt it was time for something new.

If you have been developing software for some time, especially with a team of developers, it's very likely you have used some sort of source control system like CVS or Microsoft Visual Source Safe. In many projects that I worked on we used Visual Source Safe. However, this program has a lot of shortcomings.

Preparing for ASP.NET 2

There has been a lot of buzz going on lately about the upcoming ASP.NET 2 release. Together with Visual Studio 2005 this will be a large milestone in the development of dynamic and database driven Web sites.

The betas of Visual Studio 2005 have made quite an impression so far. Both the Express versions as the full version of Visual Studio 2005 (available to MSDN subscribers only) have been around for some time. But what to do with them? It's fun to give the tool a little test drive, read about the new controls, master pages, the skins and themes engine, the cool membership and role management modules, personalization, better integration with Microsoft SQL Server and other cool new features.

But with the release date so far away ("somewhere" in 2005) is it any good to you?

Server Migration is Now Finished!

Implemented CAPTCHA Security to Protect the Contact Page

With today's site update I have protected the Contact page with a CAPTCHA security mechanism. CAPTCHA stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart" and can be used to prevent automated attacks on pages that allow a user to submit Comments, Contact details, Orders and so on.

What's New Lately?

Lately I haven't made much changes to the site; most features are ready and work as expected. I fixed a few bugs in the Voting Controls (and added enhanced design time support for them; a topic I might write an article about some day) but that's about it.
